The BSc Community Mental Health Nursing programme is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to promote mental health and provide care for individuals, families, and communities experiencing mental health challenges in Ghana. It combines nursing science with community health principles and mental health specialisation. The programme focuses on preventive mental health care, early intervention, and management of mental disorders within community settings. Students learn about psychiatric disorders, therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, rehabilitation strategies, and mental health policy. The curriculum emphasises culturally sensitive care, interprofessional collaboration, and evidence-based practice to address the unique mental health needs of diverse populations in Ghana. The programme aims to produce competent and compassionate mental health nurses who can contribute to improving the mental well-being of individuals and communities.
